Who is behind this
Musterlog is built and run by Abdul Khalique. It is a small operation, deliberately, and it is better that you know that from this page than work it out later.
Why it exists
Martyn's Law creates a duty that is easy to satisfy once and difficult to satisfy continuously. The gap between those two things is where every distributed compliance obligation actually fails: not in the writing, but in the year afterwards, across sites nobody has time to visit.
Most of the software arriving around this law is sold to individual venues at a low monthly price. That is a reasonable product for a single pub. It leaves the person who answers for four hundred of them with nothing, because nobody assembled the group view and nobody was paying for coverage to be complete rather than partial.
That gap is the whole business.
It is not a compliance guarantee, a certification scheme, a consultancy or a security assessment. No supplier can make a venue compliant with Martyn's Law and no product is endorsed by the Home Office or the SIA. Musterlog keeps records. The duty stays with the responsible person.
The case against buying from a small supplier
It is a real case and worth putting properly. A one-person company can stop existing. It has no support rota, no ISO certification and no reference customers with ten years of history. If your procurement process weights those things heavily, larger suppliers exist and you should use one.
The case for
You can export everything you put in, at any time, in a format that does not need us to read it. If Musterlog disappeared tomorrow you would still have your procedures, your training records and your drill logs. That is a deliberate design decision and it is the honest answer to the continuity question: not a promise that we will always be here, but an arrangement where it matters less if we are not.
Beyond that: you talk to the person who builds it, changes happen in days rather than quarters, and nothing about the product is shaped by a sales target that somebody else set.
How it is being built
Deliberately slowly, and against a gate. Three pilot groups have to sign letters of intent before any money is spent on building, because a records product with no real estate behind it becomes a product about what a developer imagined rather than what an operations director actually needs at half past four on a Friday.
If those three pilots do not appear, the honest conclusion is that the demand is not there, and the right response is to stop rather than to build harder. That is written down and dated, which is the only way such a rule ever survives contact with wanting it to work.
Things we will not do
- Say that any product makes anyone compliant.
- Claim an endorsement from the Home Office, the SIA or any trade body. None exists for any product.
- Take commission from an insurer or broker, which would be insurance distribution and would need FCA authorisation. Why the broker model is a licence.
- Sell you this if a free template and a folder would do. Including saying so on the pricing page.
Musterlog Ltd is being incorporated in England. Registration with the Information Commissioner's Office follows, and will be in place before any customer records are held. Both are listed here as facts only once they are true. Contact: abu@musterlog.co.uk.
